Blogging: Three Ways of Creating a Blog to Get Traffic to Your Website

Blogging is a great way to get traffic to your website, and if you create a blog for no other reason than that, you are practically certain to get positive results. Blogging and traffic are made for each other for can visit to www.feed-reader-links.com, and there are several ways of using blogs to promote products on your site. The first question is what kind of blog? Although there are alternatives, the most popular blogging software packages are Google’s Blogger and Wordpress. This offers you four blogging options, and three ways of creating a blog to get traffic to your website. Why four from just two blogging packages? Here is the answer to that question, and how if you create a blog using each, you will maximize your earning potential from your products: BloggerBlogger is blogging software owned by Google. Most people run their blog from BlogSpot, Bloggers blogging host. When you do that you have less control over your blog than if you operate it from your own IP address. Blogger is very easy to use, and very easy to get started with, and is popular with those who don’t want to worry about templates, plugins and designing their own blogs.WordpressWordpress can also be run from the Wordpress hosting site. However, where Wordpress scores over Blogger is in the fact that the software can be uploaded to your website, and can be run from there for the help www.rss-announcers.com. This enables you to use any of the thousands of Wordpress plugins and templates that provide an almost unlimited degree of functionality in your blogging that will help to drive traffic to your website. When you create a blog with any of these two different packages, whether run from your own computer or from the blog host, you are able to provide fresh content daily to your virtual website. Because that is what a blog is: it is in effect a web page, in the same way that a Squidoo lens and a page on a website is a web page. Bogging and Search EnginesBlogging allows you a presence on search engines such as Google and Yahoo, and allows those with little idea of SEO or even of web design, to sell products online. There was a time when blogs were a rarity and something new, but blogging is now a way for anybody that knows how to create a blog can drive traffic to their website or to their blog page and help they make money through free advertising. However, even a blog has to be advertised. Blogging in itself is not an advertising technique, but one of displaying your thoughts, idea, products or advertising your products. Now, you might think I am being a bit duplicitous here, stating that blogging is not a means of advertising yet can be used to advertise! Yet both statements are true. Let me explain why.Is Blogging an Advertising Technique?Yes and no. You can create a blog in order to get traffic to your website, and in that respect you are using your blog for advertising. You can place a link to your website: your squeeze page, sales page or just a content page. The question is, how do you get people to read your blog, and then click on one of these links? The link could be placed at the bottom of every post, and on a permanent page on your blog, but how do yet get traffic to your blog: you have the same problem now as getting traffic to your website! What you have here is that blogging can be use to promote another site, whether it be a website, another blog or a social networking site such as Facebook, MySpace or YouTube. You can use all of these to promote and sell products. However, how do you get people, to find your blog? Creating a blog is fine, but that is only the start.

How To Know If You Should Start A Blog

It is believed by most experts that blogging is a financial mistake for most small businesses. Blogs are best used for news-oriented sites, or sites that feature “the latest” or “the thought of the day.”However, blogging can also be a strong “add-on” to a successful, profitable website. For this reason, we will examine how to look at blogging vs having a website and how to know if you should start a blog.Several companies offer blogging software, and Blogger is probably the most widely used free blogging platform available. Blogger, owned by Google, allows you to set up a blog quickly using its design templates. Other widely used blogging software include WordPress and TypePad.Blogs must be updated frequently — several times a week, if not daily or even several times a day — in order to hold readers’ attention. Bloggers must scrupulously adhere to the golden rule of blogging: “Thou must update frequently.” It is a time-consuming process because people who read blogs expect a certain amount of fresh content on a regular basis — at a minimum, weekly — preferably several times a week. This is not true of a theme-based website.Blogging should definitely be used in combination with other marketing methods and not in isolation. They should NOT be used to build career momentum because they are not right for everyone — especially if you don’t have a strong viewpoint or valuable information to share. Blog posts, in contrast to conventional websites, do not have a specific order. The software lacks what businesses do need to actually make money (which is the ultimate goal). They interlink to each other with gusto, creating what they call “the blogosphere. Ultimately, they merely keep adding new posts, one after another, without editing out the old and without pulling related posts together into cohesive and fresh articles whereas, theme-based content sites develop and update the content into more complete, useful, cohesive articles called “web pages.” Bloggers rave about how blogs are “more dynamic” and “promote conversations,” but many prominent bloggers turn commenting off! This communication medium is heavily covered by both online and offline media because they “get” the concept. Bloggers, of course, form part of the online media and is actually for a very small percent of the population. It has become very popular in the last few years and even the most non-technical of netpreneur are now using a blog to promote their businesses. Blogs have come a long way in a very short time, but again, they’re not for everyone. A lot of people don’t want to read their own company blogs. It has to fit into the corporate culture. Blogs about your company and your products may sound interesting to you, but people rarely tune into a “commercial” blog unless there is additional information of real value. Blogging may not be suitable for all small businesses, say blogging experts in a New York Times report. However, they do provide a simple way for family and friends to stay connected from different parts of the world by sharing stories, photos, videos and more.

4 Reasons Why Blogs are Great for The Internet Marketing Newbie

Perhaps the most common question among those new to Internet marketing is, “Where do I start?” If you want something that’s easy to use, trusted by Google, loved by the search engines, and FREE, you can’t go wrong with a blog!

Google trusts blogs. Google has trust issues with Internet marketers. This is unfortunate but understandable, since so many marketers make so many spammy, cruddy sites.

Internet marketing has been around as long as the web has been around. In fact, sales and marketing pages were among some of the first pages out there.

But blogs have a different chain of evolution. They started out being written by everyday users, and have only in the last few years been used as marketing tools.

It’s a shame that Google doesn’t trust marketing tools any more than it does. And while the people there know that blogs are sometimes used this way, they also know that most blogs are still used by the average everyday user. You can use this to your advantage by turning your favorite blogging platform (like WordPress or Blogger) into a cash-generating supertool.

Blogs are easy to use. Unlike standard websites, blogs don’t require you to upload a file every time you make a new page. This makes blogs more convenient. Plus you don’t have to learn how to upload pages via FTP or some other system (an often frustrating experience).

Blogs are easy to update. Blogging software is made for the average Joe to be able to put his pages up on the Internet You don’t need to understand HTML or know how to use complicated page creation software like Dreamweaver.

Blogging software is set up so that it’s even easier than driving a car! It may not look this way to you at first. But once you become familiar with your blogging software, you’ll see why the user interface is called a “dashboard” instead a “control panel” (or a “cockpit”).

Search engines like recent material. The Internet thrives on speed. This is why the big three search engines often include how recent a piece of content is, when deciding how to rank it.

Keep in mind that this is more true in some niches than in others. Recent news is highly important if you’re trying to rank well for a celebrity or entertainment keyword, but not so much for something like antiques or ancient Chinese history.

You can get a blog for free! You don’t have to worry about buying a domain name or shelling out up to twenty-five bucks (or more) a month for hosting. Just go to one of the many free blogging sites online–WordPress.com and Blogger.com are the two most popular–and get one for free!

Another great thing about both of these sites is that they tend to do well in the search engines. They are huge sites that the search engines visit every day, so your content should be available in no time. (New sites can takes WEEKS to get indexed in the search engines.)

How To Decide Between Free Web Hosting And Paid Web Hosting For Your Blog

There are many choices for web hosting companies available and for blogging there are many free choices offered as well. The question that comes to mind to me is, “Is free webhosting cheap?” What I mean by that is what is it going to cost me in terms of functionality and accessibility. Let’s take a look at some of the comparisons between free web hosting and paid web hosting.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last couple of years then you know that blogging has become a formidable force on the internet and has allowed many people to get an online presence that may otherwise have been unable to do so. Many of these people are making their living by blogging and some like Jason Calcanis have become wealthy from it. Jason built a network of blogs over about eighteen months and sold them to AOL for nearly $30 million! That’s a pretty good ROI. Anyway, I digress, back to our discussion on web hosting.

If you have decided that you want to operate a blog your next choice will probably be what blogging platform or software you want to use to accomplish you blogging. Relax, it’s easy. Most of the blogging software out there today is open source which means it’s, you guessed it, free! In this instance free is not a bad thing, I use Wordpress almost exclusively, it is free and has more options that I care to learn or use. There are other blogging software options available, but I won’t go into them here because this article is about web hosting.

As far as web hosting for your blog you can choose free web hosting or paid so let’s take a closer look at our choices. First off, you can choose Blogger which is owned by Google. Blogger is a good program especially for beginning bloggers because it is easy to use, it is web based, and the price is right. It’s free. With that said however, if your intention is to blog professionally and possibly run a large number of blogs with automated content then Blogger is not for you. I have seen Google shut down many blogs because they considered them to be spam. If you want control over your own destiny then you want to use paid web hosting and have your blogs on your own server, or at least a shared server.

Still in the realm of free web hosting you also have a fairly new option from Wordpress who now offers a free web hosting for Wordpress blogs at their .com site as opposed to the .org site where you get the software and plug ins. The problem is that like Google, they are very restrictive with what you can put on your blogs and how you update them.

Another big issue with free web hosting is that you will usually have to display advertising of some sort which “pays” for your web hosting. This is great for the web hosting companies because it gives them tons of virtual real estate out there with their name on it, not so great for you. If you are blogging professionally, and if you are trying to make money for it then you are blogging professionally, you do not want any distractions on your site that leads visitors away from your site unless you are being paid for it like you do when someone clicks on an Adsense ad or affiliate banner.

My recommendation is that you pay for your own hosting because it gives you a wealth of choices, much more storage space, and takes almost all restrictions off of you within reason. There are still some web hosting companies that will not allow you to host gambling or porno blogs but other than that you are pretty open. Paid web hosting is not that expensive. You can get an account that will host as many blogs as most people will want to deal with a few bucks a month. So for the cost of a domain name and your hosting you will probably be around $100 a year. That is a pretty cheap investment for something that enables you to plug into all the ways of earning money on the net.

B2evolution: the Software That Turns a Greenhorn Into a Seasoned Blogger

The blogging software that is enjoying the limelight for quite some times for now is the B2Evolution. Written in PHP, and supported by MySQL database, it is among those few web applications that every web host will recommend you for your website.

The beauty of this software lies in its comprehensive feature list that includes

• Multiple blogs

• Multiuser with different access levels

• Antispam tools

• Trackbacks and pingbacks

• Timezone handling

• RSS and ATOM feeds

• Image file organizer.

• It is also multilingual; a feature that can be attributed to its originator, Francois Planque—who was a Frenchman.

In addition to that, the latest version of B2 evolution has been enriched with many more interesting features:

One of the most talked about point in the new release is its parting with the feature of configuration file editing. From now on, all configuration tasks are going to be handled through the installer or administrative back-end.

In addition to that, this software allows an admin user to lock himself out permanently. What he needs to do is to redirecting the admin.php page to a nonexistent URL on the root domain.

Another important feature relates to the spam protection for which B2Evolution receives adieus. It is provided with community-wide spam filters. This helps the B2Eevolution sites aggregate and “tag” spammer IPs into a central blacklist. The other B2Eevolution blogs get benefited from this spam filtering.

Then, B2Evolution is famously packed with a fully skinnable interface. Traditional blog, knowledge base, bug tracker—-any type of skins can be easily downloaded and installed to render a new look and feel to your blog site.

It also offers localization into a number of language packs which can be easily downloaded. Already available languages are: Chinese, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. Even if you can’t find your language, just use the localization toolkit to easily localize B2Evolution to your language. With B2evolution it’s really easy to translate to your own language too.

The software helps to integrate a truly efficient workflow.

How does it work? When a user posts an article, it can be assigned to an editor. Editor may then assign them to reviewers for final approval and then only the article is published on the site. Thus, the actual permissions and statuses remain with the site owner.

In its course of development, the B2Evolution also introduced 3rd party plugin features that allow further expansion in its feature list. Some of the most popular plugins from the users perspective are Textile, Auto-P, Greymatter, BB code, Texturize (text formatting plug-ins), and graphic smilies.

B2Evolution has built-in support for RSS 0.92, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, and Atom feeds for both posts and comments.

No matter whether you are going to step into the world of professional web publishing or just want to start a fun filled family blog, the comprehensive b2evolution platform can give you an easily installable, free, feature rich, extensible blogging solution. Unless with B2 Evolution, your transition from a novice to seasoned blogger could never have been so quick and smooth.

5 Hot RSS Tips To Increase MLM Blog Traffic

What is RSS?
RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. Basically, RSS allows you to directly deliver your content to all interested parties… don’t come to us; we will deliver the information to you or your website.
It syndicates your content. It lets you send updated headlines and brief summaries to your subscribers. In a nutshell; it’s simply a more efficient way to get your content ‘out there’.
Many people associate RSS with Blogs or Blogging because Blogs are usually written in XML or RSS format (code like html) so that these headlines and postings can be easily read and accessed.
RSS has been around for awhile but it really didn’t catch on when users had to use RSS readers or aggregators but with the increasing popularity of MyYahoo, the Firefox Browser and Blogging…RSS is becoming: more popular, more accessible and more mainstream.
RSS feeds are the most common use for this protocol, and they allow websites to publish summaries of their content in a form that is easy for users to browse.
RSS feeds also provide a great alternative to the most common form of web content syndication, e-mail. With the massive amount of spam finding its way into the average mailbox, emailed updates of web site content are a lot less attractive (and effective) than they used to be. For web site administrators, RSS feeds provide an easy way to advertise new content on their sites without the headaches and hit-or-miss nature of mass email newsletters.
RSS feeds allow people to choose the content that they wish to view. RSS is a way of syndicating content, which means having all the information that you are interested in together in one central location.
To create an RSS feed you have two choices. First, you can code your own feed by using XML or you can consider using a software application that creates the XML for you.
You can create an RSS Feed without coding it yourself by using an easy to use software applications that can format your XML.
One example is FeedForAll.
You can also code your own RSS Feed.
Just like HTML code XML code contains open and close tags to designate the title, description and link. They are enclosed in brackets just like standard html. The close tag contains a forward slash.
The above just scratches the surface of what RSS is and can do; for example RSS also forms the basis of the software used to create many online ‘blogs’ or weblogs.
1. How do I Get My OWN RSS Feed?
First, you need to get an RSS Feed for your site. There are several ways to do this. Let’s just stick with the easiest. You can use a site like www.blogger.com and start a Blog on your site’s topic or any topic that interests you.
Creating a blog with sites like Blogger (owned by Google) or Bloglines (recently acquired by Ask Jeeves) is quick, fast, and painless. Within minutes you can have your own blog up and running.
This Blog will also supply you with an RSS Feed that you can place on your site. Get a XML or RSS orange button and place it on your site. Link it to your RSS Feed url – this is your atom.xml link if you’re using Blogger.
You can also use a MyYahoo button so visitors can add your feed to their MyYahoo. Each time a subscriber opens their MyYahoo site; your RSS Feed will be updated.
You can also add ‘MyMsn’ and ‘Bloglines’ buttons on your site. Plus others, give your visitors every opportunity to subscribe to your RSS Feed or Blog, and you will see a marked increase in visitors to your site.
2. How Do I Place Other RSS Feeds On My Site?
Have a cool RSS Feed from your favorite site and you want to place that Feed’s content on your own site. How is it done?
It’s a lot easier than you think!
There are several ways, but we’ll again stick with the easiest way. If you just want to place headlines on your site – try a free service like www.feedburner.com and you will get a headline animator. This will display the RSS feed’s headlines with links to the content.
If you want to place other content from a feed on your site – one of the easiest ways I found is to use this free site: www.bigbold.com/rssdigest/
This site will generate the source code (html or javascript) that you need to place into your webpages. It’s good because it gives your code in several options: Javascript, Php file, and Iframe.
Keep in mind that Search Engines cannot or don’t read javascript so if you want this daily updated content to be indexed please be aware of this.
Just take this code and add it your webpages where you want this content to go.
3. How do I place MSN Search Results Directly on My Site?
MSN has come out with their Beta Program using RSS in their search. You can now place RSS search results directly onto your website. It can enrich your site with daily updated content.
And it’s quite simple to use; just add “&format=rss” at the end of the URL in your MSN search engine query. For example, to get an RSS Feed for ‘tsunami relief’ you would use this url: http://beta.search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=tsunami+relief&format=rss
4. How do I place Yahoo Results on my site?
In Yahoo the URL would be slightly different:
http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/rss?p=tsunami+relief&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x=wrt
Of course, in both cases you can change ‘tsunami+relief’ with the keyword or phrase of your choice to suit your website’s content.
Yahoo also has an RSS Search Directory here: http://news.yahoo.com/rss
5. What are Tags? How can I use them on my site?
Tags are more or less keywords for blogs and you should take advantage of them to bring targeted traffic to your site or blog.
Tags have hit the radar lately because Technorati, which indexes 4.5 million blogs, started sorting blog posts by using tags.
They have created a folksonomy, drawing tags from different sources, mainly Flickr.com which sorts or groups pictures and from del.icio.us — where you create a tag when you bookmark a page.
Or if your blogging software supports categories; this will be recognized by Technorati as a tag.
If you want to create a ‘tag’ it’s very simple; just place this code in your blog:
Computers (remove asterisks in actual code)
and you will have created a tag for computers.

Strategies for an Effective Business Blog

For a business blog to be effective, it is strongly recommended to use all available tools and strategies that you can find. It is vital to helping you create value to the blogging experience for your visitors.Certain strategies come to mind. You can use them to make your business blog more effective.(1)Permit visitors to search your blogAs your blog develops and grows with more posts, visitors must be permitted to search your blog for relevant information. There are no doubt many blog software that will support this function through the archival feature for your content. Still it would be good for you to add a search box to your homepage. Your visitors will easily reach for a specific subject through this search box. One such strategy to achieve this goal and to make your business blog effective is adding a Google search box to your blog. You can find this at www.google.com/searchcode.html.(2) Monitoring of traffic to your blogIt is important to do this. There are many reasons why must. When you track statistics on who are your readers, what posts they usually read on your blog, and where do they come from, you will be able to analyze them much better. You will have gained valuable insight into your visitors. Once again, you can find effective support for this function from Google. They have the Google Analytics Program that will provide the best site statistics and visitor information. You can also try the free and paid versions of visitor tracking software from MyBlogLog.(3) Management of blog commentsYou will undoubtedly receive comments from visitors. Therefore, you will have to manage these blog comments effectively. Of course, there will be comments that appear to be spam. For this, you do not need to worry as there are blog software that will screen comments before releasing them. For effectiveness, try using the free service from HaloScan. Another alternative requires you to enable the ‘word verification’ option in your blogging software. This will prevent automated comment spam.(4) Permit visitors to make purchases through your blogBy means of a blog, you are able to sell your products online. All that is required of you is to configure the blog to accept different modes of online payment. If you have a standalone blog and to support your direct sales through it, you can best do this through PayPal. It is extremely cost-effective, easily set up , and of great use with your blog.(5)Use good design for your blogVisitors coming to your blog for information must have that enjoyable experience. It is good to ensure that your blog design is tailored to delight visitors besides giving support to your content. What is a good blog design then? I would recommend one that uses legible type, appealing colors and provides a clear and easy-to-read format. Importantly, it should be easy to navigate. There are sources for blog design resources on the web. You can find them at BlogSkins, Flickr, Blogger Templates, just to name a few. You should customize your blog for better results. In conclusion, strategies for an effective business blog are always there for you to apply. The outcome will depend on how badly you want the good results. By doing things the right way on your business blog, you will certainly be rewarded ultimately.
